Obsessed about it.

Today it´s all about obsessions. I think I´ve listened to the same song about 25 times, and it´s just 14.30, now that´s a bit obsessed! Plus it´s Monday, which means that I´m as usual a bit tired from getting up early in order to drive my car for 3 hours to get here. Me+tired is often not a good combination, I tend to get a bit cranky and high maintenance in general, but there is a couple of tricks one can pull to raise my mood a bit.... namely: food!!! I guess it´s all about balance, lack of energy in terms of not sleeping enough will be replaced with energy through FOOD. And coffee of course. So I guess I´m obsessing about food as well. Food and Fleetwood Mac. Not a bad combination at all actually. Silver Springs was the song anyway, by Fleetwood Mac. Tune indeed.

And I can´t stop thinking about the Poetry festival that Bombadil Publishing is attending on Saturday. I will be reading a few poems myself which is the result of not being able to take the Poetry festival off of my mind. We are 4 authors from Bombadil and on official festival leflets we are refered to as The Bombadil Publishing All Stars, neat! So I guess that´s being a bit obsessive too.

It´s nice weather anyway, on a Monday which I´m very suprised and impressed about, spring is here for real, at last. Welcome, please stay forever. And that´s all I have to say about that.

Welcoming spring, new colleagues, old languages...and red hair

Spring is here (again!!) which makes me really pleased. It was quite a set back getting snow last week and looking out on a winter landscape. But now the birds are singing and the weather is mild and lovely. I guess most of the snow will be gone soon and we will be able to eat lunch outside. Can't wait :-D
On that happy note I would like to welcome our new colleague, Melvin from El Salvador who will be tackling our South American market and our Spanish speaking authors. Melvin has Mayan-Indian roots so he's been trying to teach us a few words. Mayan is, for us, a very exotic language. So far I can (or could because I have already forgotten) say bread and some other random word. I have also learnt a few Nepali words, though that has essentially nothing to do with Mayan or Melvin. I mentor a really talented young author from Nepal who told me so many lovely things about Nepal that I got intrigued and bought a phrase book sporting useless Nepali phrases. I guess saying "bread" is more useful than saying "my room has not been cleaned". Mind you, it probably depends on where you are. Not sure Mayan gets you very far in Nepal, or vice versa. Anyway, the languages are both very old and rather intriguing and I hope that we will one day have books in both of these languages. And many more minority languages too of course.
Personally I would like to learn Zulu, Japanese and Russian. Not for any specific reason at all really, except that they sound so distinct. And if I can hear the difference, then I assume I can also learn them.
And finally, when I got into work this morning, I was joined by three red haired and happy colleagues. Not quite sure what happened, but it must have been nice because they were all very happy. Or could it be that it is spring?

Today the sun has been with us all day, which is rather unusual for Mondays. If you remeber last weeks sara-blogg you might recall a bittersweet undertone in regards of the weather...Or just a bitter tone to be frank. But today I have no complaints what so ever. One might say that i´m satisfied. Not bad is it?! Another contribution to my exceptionally good mood is our new co-worker Mari, who started today. A very nice woman who just joined us at Bombadil to help us out with the video-blogging, editing pictures and give us a hand with the setting of books. Brilliant!

The first project we started of with was actually my Challenge Poetry book "Where´s the manual" that will be available in swedish this coming spring. I was choosing the order in which the texts should go and Mari did the same thing, but with pictures. And believe it or not but it turned into a book, at last! At the moment it is mostly odd pages with text cutted and pasted with tejp onto scrap-paper, but most important; it has the layout of the actual book! Tomorrow we are gonna be a bit less old-fashioned and actually use Marianne´s Mac to do they actual layout. So excited!

What a Monday. I even got some staples today, Marianne acknowledged my little hint last week, about getting a stapler but no staples to put inside it. So today when I got to the office a box of staples lay on my desk, nice!=) And my list of office-material is is getting longer and longer:

* Desk

* Laptop

* Desklamp

* Mouse

* Mousemat (with a picture of a moose on it)

* Shelves (having a picture of an 18-year old Marianne standing on the topshelf)

* Pinboard (with pins, thank you John)

AND

* Whiteboard!!! So now I can properly organize my daily tasks.

Wonderful, I love whiteboards, they have some kind of logical, organized and sophisticated touch about them. I´m glad that some object in my office can contribute to those things, since I can´t.
